brb.
The touchless hall-pass kiosk.
Mount an iPad by your door. Students wave to sign out and wave again to sign in. You keep a clean, time-stamped log without being interrupted mid-lesson.
The problem
Every bathroom trip is an interruption: a hand goes up, you stop the lesson, somebody scribbles a name and a time on the clipboard, and nobody remembers to sign back in. By Friday the log is half blank and you still don't know who is out right now.
How brb. helps
brb. turns a spare iPad or Chromebook into a sign-out station by the door. Students tap their name, or just wave in hand-tracking mode, the kiosk stamps the time, and big face cards show who is currently out. Partner mode, auto-lock, and a sub-teacher PIN keep it running without you.
6 things, done properly
Touchless sign-out
In-browser hand tracking (MediaPipe) lets students sign out with a wave. Tap mode works on any device without a camera.
Who is out, at a glance
Live face cards show every student currently out, how long they have been gone, and where they went.
Multiple classes and partner pairs
Switch classes in a tap. Partner mode sends buddies together for the younger grades.
Sub-teacher PIN and auto-lock
A sub can run the kiosk with a PIN; the screen locks itself when nobody is using it.
Stats and CSV export
See frequent flyers by student and time of day, then export the log as a CSV for your records.
Optional photo log, on the device
Pass photos are optional and auto-delete after 30 days. Rosters and logs stay on the kiosk until you clear them.
Works on the devices your school already has
Any modern browser. A camera is only needed for hand-tracking mode; tap mode works everywhere. Works after the first load even when the Wi-Fi drops.

Questions teachers ask
Does it need a camera?
Only for hand-tracking mode. Tap mode gives you the same log on any device without a camera.
Where does the sign-out data live?
On the kiosk device. Your teacher account stores only your profile and subscription status — never student names or passes.
Can a substitute use it?
Yes. Set a sub-teacher PIN and the kiosk keeps logging passes without exposing your settings.
Is brb. a separate site?
brb. runs at brbkiosk.us. The same Big Brain Labs sign-in works there, and it is included in All-Access.
